Village Christian School – Director of Development

Village Christian School
Los Angeles, California

Job Summary

Village Christian School (VCS) is a Christ-centered K–12 school in Los Angeles, California, serving over 1,600 students from more than 200 churches across Southern California. Founded in 1949 as a ministry of Village Church, VCS is guided by its CARE values — Christ-centered, Affordable and Accessible, Real Relationships, and Educational Excellence — and holds accreditation through WASC and membership in CESA, the nation’s leading network of Christian schools. A two-time National Blue Ribbon School, VCS draws a uniquely diverse community of families united by an openness to the Christian faith and a shared belief that an excellent education and a life centered on Christ go hand in hand.

VCS is seeking a Director of Development to serve as the school’s primary major gift officer and donor relationship builder. Reporting to the Vice President and Head of School, this full-time role is responsible for developing major donor gifts, coordinating capital campaigns, and building relationships with donor groups. The ideal candidate sees fundraising as ministry — someone who leads with relationships and advances the school’s mission through authentic, long-term donor partnerships.

Christ-Centered

VCS's primary purpose is to be a welcoming school where students encounter the love of God and are invited into a personal relationship with Christ. Every program and decision flows from the desire to see Christ at the center of each student's life.

Accessibility/Affordability

Following Jesus' example of welcoming all who would come to Him, VCS is committed to being accessible to the greatest number of students and families possible — regardless of privilege or affluence.

Real Relationships

The evidence of a vital relationship with Christ shows up in the way a community loves one another. At VCS, genuine relationships — with God and with each other — are not a byproduct of the school's culture; they are central to it.

Educational Excellence

VCS believes accessibility and excellence are not in tension. The school pursues academic achievement unmatched by both public and private peers, cultivating in every student a lifelong love of learning.
