Discovery
Every school has blind spots. Let’s help you see clearly.
Every Head of School has blind spots—it’s the nature of leading from the inside. Discovery is NextEd’s 24-point institutional health assessment for K-12 Christian schools, giving the Head of School and board a shared, accurate starting point before making major decisions. It’s an independent, expert-led assessment conducted through the lens of people who understand Christian schools deeply—their mission, culture, pressures, and potential.
More than a health check.
Schools make major decisions—strategic plans, new hires, capital campaigns—often without a clear-eyed assessment of the institution’s actual health. Discovery ensures those decisions are grounded in reality, not assumption.
Constituent surveys alone aren’t enough. Many schools survey parents or faculty annually but lack the expertise to interpret the data, identify patterns, or connect findings across domains. Discovery does that work for you, and turns data into insight and action.
Christian schools are both mission-driven ministries and multi-million-dollar organizations. Enrollment declines, financial instability, governance dysfunction, and faculty culture problems don’t resolve themselves—early identification changes outcomes. And while accreditation is valuable, it runs on a fixed cycle, often only once every five years. Discovery is faster, more candid, and more actionable, because it doesn’t just assess—it recommends and provides a roadmap.

What sets us apart?
We know Christian schools specifically
We understand the tension between mission and business, and we speak the language of Christian school leadership.
We are practitioners, not academics
Our consultants have led schools, served on boards, and sat in the chair themselves.
We listen before we conclude, and deliver truth with care
Honest findings, delivered constructively, with a clear path forward.
Every engagement is tailored to your school’s unique context
The framework stays consistent, the application never does.
Listening. Angles. Truth. Motion.
These four words are NextEd’s core values, and they describe how we work. We listen carefully—to the Head of School, faculty, parents, students, and board. We look at your school from multiple angles, so no single data point tells the whole story. We tell the truth, even when it’s hard to hear. And we create motion, because a report that sits on a shelf helps no one.
Listening
We enter every situation with a listening ear, especially with clients, as each school is unique. If we actively listen, we understand and answer well (Prov. 18:13). Not once, not twice, but through the full relationship.
Angles
Great solutions are a culmination of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding—the many angles that make sense of a challenge. We operate as a team in everything, burdens included (Gal. 6:2). Teams that work well, produce ideas that work well.
Truth
Our team submits to the truth of Scripture (John 17:17), knowing that in a posture of humility and servant leadership, His will is done (Eph. 4:9, Mark 10:45). We commit to speaking the truth in love with clients, because He does the same for us.
Motion
NextEd strives for excellence and the highest standard of expertise, for ourselves and school leaders. We are constantly moving forward and challenging others to find their next. (And we’ll be right next to them as they do.)
